California Home Prices Trickle Up

Probably due to the $8000 tax credit, California median price for a home went up 2.4% in October, but was still down 7.6% from the previous year. The median sales price for the state was $257,000.

About 41% of these sales were from foreclosures in entry level houses. That percentage was actually higher by 4% than last year.

The median sales price was $280,000 for Southern California. In the San Francisco Bay Area, the median sales price was $390,000, probably due to more higher end homes selling last month.
